Kittens and puppies need a safe and comfortable environment to grow and develop.
In the first few weeks of life, your kitten or puppy will be exploring their new surroundings and usually need to be watched quite closely as they become familiar with their new home. Take a look at our top tips below to help your new puppy or kitten settle in:
The health of your cat or dog is closely linked to their diet and lifestyle. Whilst it's important not to overfeed them, their diet should be varied and balanced, to provide all the nutrients they need.
There are two main types of food that you can feed your pet – moist/wet and dry. Both types should be complete meals to provide all the nutrients your pet needs.
Dry food is beneficial to help clean your pets teeth by the extra effort required to chew and the increased saliva flow to assist swallowing. However, a diet of dry pet food requires plenty of fresh water that is readily available.
An ideal diet is a combination of both moist/wet and dry food, which also helps to add variety to their diet. This can be particularly important for cats as this may help to prevent ‘Food Fixation’ – a cat’s tendency to prefer one particular type of food.
Pet treats are a good way to bond with your pet and are a great way of rewarding them, especially during training. Just remember to moderate the number of treats, as too many without enough exercise may lead to weight gain.
